With the country's unemployment rate rising, OctaFX, a foreign currency broker, has established a program to teach 250 Rivers State University students the technicalities of foreign exchange trading.
Ajola Johnson, the Lead Strategist of OctaFX, stated during an interview with newsmen in Port Harcourt that the company's relocation was required by the economy's incapacity to accommodate thousands of graduates churned out each year.
“With the way the present university system is set up, students come into school, learn their courses, and graduate with no skills,” she said. They are not always able to use what they learn in school, and others are unable to find work after graduation. As a result, we created this project because we recognize that Nigerians lead various lives.
“At various times, we can do different things.” As a result, this is intended to provide pupils with something to do while they are studying in school. With it, one may get a university degree in addition to a FOREX degree.
Johnson went on to say that the program would redirect young people's attention away from Internet fraud and establish an enabling platform where they could lawfully earn money either in or out of school.
“All we want to do is provide a clear route for young people to learn about the FX market and earn money.”
This implies that anytime young people wish to exchange currencies, the firm will provide a trustworthy platform, she said.
She said that the initiative, which will begin at Rivers State University, would operate on a project-by-project basis, and that it will be continued over time.
“We aim to organize programs like this at numerous colleges, with Port Harcourt being the first; we hope to provide them with the knowledge and assistance they need to achieve financial independence.”
“We expect that individuals who came in with no previous understanding of forex trading would learn all there is to know about forex and become self-sufficient, relevant, and responsible members of society,” she said.
