Ghana's cedi slides as Uganda's shilling firms
Reuters Africa FX weekly report (Aug 20, 2026) says Ghana's cedi is expected to weaken against the dollar, trading at 11.00 versus 10.90 a week earlier, with central bank auction bids of $399 million against a $125 million allocation signaling unmet dollar demand. Uganda's shilling is forecast to strengthen on month-end inflows, while Zambia's kwacha, Nigeria's naira and Kenya's shilling are expected to remain broadly stable.
