RBI Chief Calls Dollar Shorts 'Very Manageable'
RBI Governor Sanjay Malhotra defended the central bank's net-short forward-dollar position as "very manageable" and the early closure of the FCNR(B) swap window as data-driven calibration, as the rupee steadied near 95.68 per dollar on August 20, 2026. He cited stronger-than-expected inflows and expects at least $80 billion from measures to attract foreign currency.
